Located in the region of Fez-Boulemane, at 579m altitude, on the fertile lands of Sais, between the rich forests of the Middle Atlas and the Rif, Fez is the heart and the cultural, intellectual and spiritual capital of Morocco.
Heritage of a time when Fez was the imperial capital and reigned over a large part of the Maghreb, a multitude of historic sites are just waiting to be discovered behind the walls of its medieval city, the Medina.
Fez is famous for its merchants, its artists and its talented craftsmen who are still numerous to perpetuate their trades. Several districts, specialized according to the "corporations", allow the craft industry to be the driving activity of the city.
To visit Fez and its labyrinths is to stroll through its past, to witness its wealth and its socio-cultural mix. How many civilizations from Arabia, Palestine, Berber, Andalusia, Europe and the Sahara have left their mark here? This abundance of life and history, where the past and the present are subtly mixed, is simply fascinating.
Fes is home of the University of Al Quaraouiyine which was founded in 859 by Fatima al-Fihriand and is the oldest continuously functioning university in the world. It also has the Chouara Tannery from the 11th century, one of the oldest tanneries in the world. The city has been called the "Mecca of the West" and the "Athens of Africa," a nickname it shares with Cyrene in Libya.
Your home away from home
Located right outside the medina and next to the "Blue Gate" (Bab Boujloud), our riad is an oasis of calm and architectural beauty.
All rooms have an en-suite bathroom and are cleaned every day (if you wish). Most of them will give out to the inner court of the riad.
We'll have personnel at our service during the day and the local cook is just marvelous. Fassy - "from Fes" - cooking is renowned to be one of the best throughout the Maghreb region.
Our riad has an overall rating of 9.2/10 and mention "Superb" on Booking.com & a 4.5/5 rating on Tripadvisor. (My fiancé & I stayed there myself last year and loved the place and the people)
Dinner (not included in the boot camp fee) can be served in the riad at a preferential rate (19€ pp) every evening if you wish. But I do hope you'll try out the many local restaurants as well!
Don't miss out and pre-register today.
